Little children, let us not love in word or talk
but in deed and in truth.” 1 John 3:18
The picture on the above show hands clutching together in a heart. One hand appears to be lifting the other up, with the heart symbolizing love. And there in the heart is the ichthus with the cross of Christ in the middle of it all.
On Sunday, September 29th the members of St. John will be lifting up others in love as we host a Community Workday. This day will be focused on putting our love & faith into action as we serve those around us in our community, with Jesus at the center of all we do.
Everything we do at St. John is all about Jesus for you and Jesus through you. So just like every other Sunday you will be given Jesus in Word & Sacrament during worship service. You will be filled with His love, mercy, hope, peace, and compassion. But on this Sunday, the 29th following service we will make our way out into the community to show love, compassion, and mercy to those in need as we let the love of Christ shine through us to others (Matthew 5:16). All post worship service activities have been suspended for the day, so we can put out faith into action, by loving not just in word & talk, but in deed and truth as well.
Our Lord Jesus throughout His earthly ministry encouraged His disciples to love God by first loving their neighbors. And that’s what we did last year at St. John when we hosted our First Community Workday. We loved our neighbors meeting them where their needs were. The day was filled with members of St. John donning blue shirts with our church name and logo, going out into the local community to do work for those in need. We had over 50 people from St. John performing various task from painting a playground to cutting up trees. The feedback from the community was wonderful, but the feedback from those who served was even better.
Won’t you join us this year in making an impact in our community, by loving others as Christ loves you. Let’s not only let Christ live in us, but through us as well.

Have you ever wonder what it would be like to walk where Jesus walked? Or climb the mountains that Abraham took Isaac on? What about crossing the sea of Galilee or walking in the green valleys that King David walked.
Join us Sunday mornings this Fall as we travel to biblical lands with this stunning visual presentation! This study will take us to sites from the Old & New Testaments.
Each week, as we study a portion of Scripture that corresponds to the video, we will traverse the geography and study the culture in which the Bible was written, bringing Scripture alive.
Beginning Mondays in October
When young Jewish children first learn to read Hebrew in preparation for their bar mitzvahs, they begin with the book of Leviticus. his is probably the last biblical book Christians tackle! Yet it has plenty to say which the New Testament alludes to such as:
Jesus our High Priest, Jesus who enters the Tabernacle by His blood, and Jesus the Lamb of God.
Leviticus teaches of God’s holiness, His love, His sacraments, His worship.
Join us beginning Monday, Oct. 7th for this rewarding and challenging book.
